The lower half of the print has a pastoral scene with several adults and children by a stream at the bottom of the print. Behind them, someone milks a cow. The upper half shows the tops of buildings and rolling hills. A sunset is taking place with dramatic clouds.<br />

The low horizon used in this landscape painting creates a sense of expansive sky and flat terrain, which is divided equally between river and land. Figures and animals engage in variety of activities on the riverbank and in boats, including fishing and ferrying cargo and animals. Silhouetted against the vast sky stands a fortress on a spur of land with an orange flag flying from its tower. The opposite bank is visible in the distance as a dark broken line across the shining stretch of water.

This painting features a landscape consisting of a grassy meadow with leafy green trees, accompanied by a blue sky punctuated by clouds.  Wooded areas surround the verdant clearing where two women, one standing and the other sitting, are located.  Across from the figures, to their right, is a brown cow.  The recto of the painting is signed "Corot" on the lower left.

A group of figures are seen kneeling at the lower left in preparation of eating an al fresco meal. The figures consist of two women, two men, and a child, accompanied by a dog, curled up at the bottom right and two lambs or sheep at the right side. Two standing men and a cow are visible, as is the landscape behind the figures that includes trees and a house.<br /> Throughout, the work is unified by the consistent fluid and dense pen strokes that describe the figures and animals as well as the distant landscape and sky.

This engraving is horizontally oriented. The length of a cow (with its head to the left and its tail to the right) is the focal point, taking up about a third of the image. At the cow&rsquo;s head on the left, a barefooted man with a hat leans on a pole and rests his arm on a tree trunk. Behind the man is another cow with horns and he is standing in front of a building. The ground is rocky and a fence made of thin tree trunks runs along the background. At the cow&rsquo;s tail on the right, is a peasant woman with bare feet. Her head is covered with a cloth and she labors to carry a heavy wooden milk bucket. Several trees and another cow are behind her. A small plaque on the ground in the foreground contains an inscription.
